Gosbeck Crowfield

Le Tour de Coddenham this week headed North. The ride involved a gentle category 3 climb up Gosbeck Hill (possible candidate for promotion to mountain, we hear) giving stupendous views over rolling countryside. A tricky crosswind caused some difficulty but the stage passed off without incident as riders maintained strict social distancing at all times. In fact at one point the gap between lead rider and the Peleton was 6 miles but that margin was whittled away to zero by the end of the stage – as the Peleton had opted to stay home and do her Pilates. One of the problems with riding at this time year, through this kind of countryside, with a camera round your neck, is that everywhere you look there’s a picture. And the accompanying helicopters and motorcycle camera crews don’t like having to keep stopping to allow the Yellow Jersey to take another picture. Ah well. Up there in the North churches seem to be a bit thin on the ground, but hey, quality not quantity eh? And the last one visited is a cracker, I think you’ll agree.
